Broomhill Sands
Just east of Camber Sands is the lesser known Broomhill. Whilst it may not be nestled amongst the sand dunes in quite the way as its neighbour Broomhill is still one of the best beaches around.
There aren’t much in the way of facilities at Broomhill but there is an ice cream van during the summer months.
At low tide the beach here is very flat and sandy expanse with the sea seemingly miles away. This makes it ideal for activities that require plenty of space such as sand-buggies. When the wind isn’t up it’s a perfect spot for a paddle.
Broomhill is also one of the most popular kitesurfing destinations on the coast. Even if you aren’t experienced you can get lessons and hire equipment from the Kitesurf Centre here.
This eastern end of the beach is also known as Jury’s Gap which is believed to be rooted in medieval times and was originally Jew’s Gate. At the time Jewish merchants from Rye and Winchelsea used the beach to land goods. Whether this was to avoid duties or because they were forbidden to do so at the nearby ports is not known.

Aug 28th 2023This is a stunning sandy beach, car park is just minute away. Perfect place for family day outing. Easy access for pushchair users. Only drawback is the toilet, there is no toilet in the car park, nearest toilet located in Western way Entrance
