  • Pwlldu, meaning ‘black pool’ in Welsh, is a secluded bay with a sandy area exposed at low tide, and a rocky area further up the beach. It is popular for bathing and sea canoeing, but is not the easiest beach to reach, with no roads giving direct access. Instead, visitors can walk here along country tracks, such as Pwlldu Lane which connects the beach with the village of Bishopston.

Due to its remoteness, there are rarely crowds at the beach, but there are also no facilities. The closest shops and places to eat can be found in Bishopston.
