Shipstal Beach
Set in the lovely setting of the RSPB nature reserve of Arne is Shipstal beach. Despite being within the confines of the busy Poole harbour and a stone’s throw from Dorset’s most populous town, you may not meet another soul on the beach here.
The beach at Shipstal is accessed via paths and wooden walkways through heathland and ancient woodlands where deer roam free. These woodlands virtually spill out onto the beach providing both shade and a real feeling of wilderness. But fear not there is a tearoom on the reserve!
Given Arne is an RSPB reserve you won’t be surprised to hear there is no shortage of wildlife. Bird species such as woodpeckers and ospreys are regularly sighted from the nearby bird hide.
