Trecco Bay (Porthcawl)
Also known as Bae Trecco, safe, sandy, spacious Trecco Bay is just over two kilometres long and one of a half dozen beaches making up the “7 Bays” of Porthcawl. Located on a low limestone headland twenty miles from Swansea, the beach is mainly rock and sand and is sits at the edge of the popular Trecco Bay Holiday Camp.
There are no facilities on the beach itself, but there are plenty of options at the Holiday Park, including mini golf, amusement arcades, and the Splashland swimming pool – non-residents can usually pay for a day pass. There are also public toilets and a small car park at the back of the holiday park.
From 1 October to 30 April owners are welcome to exercise their dogs. The water quality is excellent, making it suitable for paddling and swimming. There is a lifeguard service in season and the beach is a regular winner of the Blue Flag Award.
The Porthcawl promenade itself is extensive, with a small funfair, Coney Beach, as well as numerous bars, cafes, hotels and restaurants, and views over the Bristol Channel.
