Doonfoot Beach

This small, rural beach can be found 2 miles south of Ayr on the lovely Ayrshire coastline.  There are views over the Firth of Clyde out towards the Isle of Arran and beyond that to the Mull of Kintyre Peninsula. The terrain is mainly sandy, although there are some rocks, and the beach is backed by undeveloped grassy areas.  Towering above the beach are the picturesque castle ruins.

Jellyfish are sometimes washed up along this part of the coast, particularly during the warmer summer months.  Care needs to be taken not to touch these and dogs should be kept away from them.

The area around the beach is popular with walkers and golfers.  There are a number of holiday parks and caravan sites nearby.
