East Beach (Dunbar)

Dunbar is a popular seaside resort about 30 miles east of Edinburgh.
The town’s East Beach is a mix of sand and shingle stretching south-east from the harbour. The beach is quite popular with kayakers and a surf school runs paddle boarding sessions here.
When the tide is out a number of rockpools are exposed. At certain times of year and in certain conditions a large amount of kelp can be deposited here by the sea. The waves have also been responsible for washing away sand from this beach in the past.
At the north end the beach is backed by a sea wall which forms part of the old harbour. A golf course lies adjacent to the southern end of the beach.
Dunbar town centre with its shops, cafes and places to stay is just a few minutes’ walk away.
