Port Beach (Lurganboy)
Located just a few miles to the north of the fishing village of Clogherhead is a relatively remote expanse of sand known as Port beach. The beach here stretches for over a mile, although it feels even bigger with panoramic views to the Mourne mountains and backed by mature sand dunes and open countryside.
Clean water and a rural setting make Port beach a haven for a wide range of flora and fauna such as the rare Marsh Orchid.
As a winner of the Blue Flag award you can also relax in the knowledge that this is a safe, family beach with lifeguards patrolling during the summer and plenty of facilities close at hand.

Aug 12th 2020Expansive beach, great for walking, playing and swimming. Can be busy on a sunny weekend. Lifeguard station is a bonus. Check the tides (Clogherhead) as at low tide it is out very far.
