St. Annes - North Beach

This sandy beach, backed by dunes is located on the Fylde coastline, between Lytham St Annes and Blackpool. At low tide up to 300 metres of clean, golden sand is exposed, perfect for building sandcastles and playing beach games.
The North Beach is used by dog walkers, kite flyers and families. In summer the dunes behind the beach provide day-trippers with a degree of shelter from sea breezes and can be popular with picnickers.
St Annes beach is backed by a golf course and a small local nature reserve. Blackpool Airport is quite close to the beach, so plane spotters might enjoy watching aircraft take-off and coming in to land. Blackpool’s Blue Flag South Beach is a short walk to the north.
A range of facilities, including shops, cafes and take-aways can be found in the small town of St Annes, which also features an elegant Victorian pier, a promenade and a boating lake where pedalos and canoes can be hired and where it is sometimes possible to try out walking on giant inflatable water balls. Pretty, pastel coloured beach huts are available for hire.
