Pwllheli Beach (Traeth Marian-y-De)
Pwllheli is the unofficial capital of the Lleyn Peninsula, with two beaches and an attractive seafront promenade.
South Beach is a shingle beach that stretches from Gimblet Rock along the promenade and around towards Llanbedrog.
Glan-y-Mor is located at the back of the marina, starting off a little muddy around the harbour, but soon becoming sandy and running for three miles all the way to the Penychain headland.

Jul 19th 2021Beautiful beach which allows dogs.
Good for swimming.
Suggest other reviewer goes on the part where dogs are not allowed!!
There are too many restrictions for dog owners as it is.
Fishermen

Sep 06th 2024So disappointed, drove over an hour to get here, then found the beach covered in fishermen’s tents. Couldn’t get down to walk along the tide line as the beach was taken up with a solid line of fishermen. Don’t know if it’s like this every day, but for a Friday in September it was awful.
Dogs and umbrellas!!!
Last week trying to relax on this wonderful beach - unfortunately this was impossible as an umbrella belonging to a couple not far from me was blown by the wind in my direction several times - was expecting to be stabbed any minute by the spike on the end. Despite this owner retrieved the umbrella and promptly put it back up! Just to finish off their dog then attacked me - had to throw it off my arm at least three times before owner unsuccessfully tried to control it! After this experience I think dogs should be banned during the summer at least as it is obvious some can’t be controlled by their owners. Shame as this is the best beach in the world for me.
