  • Borthwen is a pretty, sandy crescent located on the southern shore of Holyhead island. Backed by sand dunes there are also a few little rocky islets along the length of the beach.

This is a great family beach with its shallow sloping sands and abundance of rockpools. There are also a few basic amenities such as toilets and showers.

The beach at Borthwen is reached by a very narrow lane and there is a small car park by the beach.

Rhoscolyn - Borth Wen Beach Reviews

We used to love this beach because its so family friendly being a very shallow and calm crescent shape. Last year put us off. Lots of dogs roaming off lead which meant lots of dog faeces as they weren’t really supervised. My daughter and I were leaving the sea when we noticed a ‘log’. Dog poo being picked up by the incoming tide and not the only visible pile either. Made me gag to think the children had had their heads, faces, mouths in the sea here. Disgusting.
