Burn mouth Beach (Dornoch) (Burnmouth)

Burnmouth lies on the eastern end of the vast expanse of beach known as Dornoch Sands.  It has a reputation for being one of the cleanest beaches in the area and the water quality here is excellent.

From the beach there are lovely views over the Dornoch Firth. Gallrope Bank, a large sandbank is sometimes also visible at low tide.

The sandy beach is backed by grassy dunes, home to a good variety of plant and animal life.  The area next to the beach has been designated a Special Site of Scientific Interest.

Behind this quiet, rural beach lies a grassy airstrip.
