Sugar Sands
The name Sugar Sands sets expectations pretty high for this secluded, sandy beach - the good news is you won’t be disappointed. Whilst the sand isn’t actually made of sugar, it is crunchy and a beautiful pale-golden colour.
The beach sits at the foot of low grassy cliffs and is bordered by rocky outcrops which are home to plenty of rock pools. Stretching for around 100 metres, the sand here is backed by dunes. Although you’ll never have a problem getting a spot on this beach it does also have somewhat cosy feel, with a bit of shelter from the wind too.
Sugar Sands beach lies about halfway between Boulmer and Howick and is a little bit of a hike from either direction. There is actually parking closer by, at Howdiemont, via Low Steads farm, where you’ll find an honesty box
