Portobello Beach (Brighton)
Portobello Beach is situate mid-way between Brighton and Newhaven, to the east of Brighton Marina. The beach is a mix of sand and shingle, flanked by stunning white chalk cliffs.
Being the furthest out of Brighton’s beaches it tends to be less busy than those nearer the town’s seafront and is mainly enjoyed by the locals who come here to swim, surf and fly kites.
In summer, visitors can enjoy taking a dip in Saltdean Lido, a Grade II listed outdoor pool with a 40-metre heated pool and children’s splash pool. For those looking for a land based activity, the nearby Seven Sisters coastal path is popular with walkers.
There are shops and eateries in Saltdean and of course the lively resort of Brighton is just 4 miles to the west.
