Traught Beach (Tracht)
Located in the sheltered Galway Bay, this gently sloping sandy beach is an ideal spot for families. There is a lifeguard service during the summer months which means Traught beach is particularly safe for bathing.
This is a quiet rural beach which rarely gets busy, particularly now the campsite which backs onto the beach is closed.
Traught beach lies within the Galway Bay Complex a Special Area of Conservation (SAC). The variety and diversity of habitats present here are of great conservation value. It is an area particularly popular with birdwatchers who come here for the wildfowl.
