Mappleton Beach Photo

Mappleton Beach - Yorkshire

Northern groyne, Mappleton Sands

Two groynes were built in 1991 to protect the village of Mappleton which is under threat as the land erodes on the Holderness coast. The groynes used rock imported from Scandinavia. For more information see http://www.wildyorkshire.co.uk/naturediary/docs/apr00/apr09.html
