Little Island Bay (Barry Island) Photo
Tilted strata near Friar's Point
Little Island is no longer an island since it and the larger Barry Island were joined to the mainland by a causeway. This whole section of coast is of great interest to geologists as it offers a fabulous cross-section through the tilted beds of the Carboniferous Limestone, often topped by flat-lying beds of Triassic sandstone. There are faults, folds and fossils aplenty to be found.
