Llanelli and Loughor Estuary Beach
This sandy beach with mudflats is close to the Llanelli Docks, and is overlooked by a promenade. Cars can be left at the Millennium Quay Car Park on Traeth Ffordd, and then it is a short walk past the iconic Discovery Centre to the promenade. There is a café and kiosk to be found here.
Heading northwest along the promenade, there is a link to the 13-mile long Millennium Coastal Path, a 13-mile long pedestrian walkway and cycle track.
The Afon Lliedi (Loughor River) enters the sea southwest of the car park. An old bridge on the Loughor side of the estuary is a popular fishing spot. Visitors to the area need to be aware of dangerous quicksands and fast-incoming tides, and should take note of warning notices and tidal tables.
