Ganavan Beach
This lovely string of rural beaches, nestling around the clear waters of Ganavan Bay can be found a few miles north of Oban. This is the perfect place to come if you are looking for a tranquil, sandy beach with stunning scenery.
There are views around the craggy coastline of Ganavan Bay, across the Firth of Lorn and towards the isles of Lismore and Mull. The beauty of this place will take your breath away.
There are plenty of good walking routes in the area and dogs are allowed on the beach at any time of year.
A car park can be found at the end of Ganavan Sands Road and there is a small holiday village nearby.
The partial ruins of 13th century Dunstaffnage Castle, where Flora MacDonald is said to have been held captive, is just a few miles up the coast and is well worth a visit.
