  • Powfoot Beach is a stretch of coastline along the Solway Firth, consisting of mud flats, a salt marsh, and some sections of shingle.

From the attractive village of Powfoot there is a path along the coast taking walkers to the east, towards Annan and a shingle area of the beach. However, it can be dangerous to approach the water at low tide here, and warning signs must be observed.

There was once a tidal swimming pool here, but now all that remains is a rather curious looking circular structure which is revealed as the tide drops away.

The area is popular for walkers and golf enthusiasts, with Powfoot Golf Course overlooking the Firth.

Facilities such as parking and a hotel can be found in Powfoot. There are also a number of holiday parks in the area, including the nearby Queensberry caravan park which also has a small shop and the Sandpiper cafe.

We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary and had our two dogs with us and after our part we took the dogs to Powfoot beach, gosh i would love to live in the little cottages there.. The sand was wet and muddy sand but we had a great time. Be wary of the tides they come in from the side.. and quite fast, their is signs warning you of this.. we took a couple of pictures and got a lovely one of my dress wafting in the sea air.. we only spent about 30 mins there to give the dogs a run out and was very rocky back to the car park but its a little gem..
