Palm Bay

Palm Bay is a pleasant sandy beach not too far away from Margate’s town centre, between Walpole and Botany Bay. Despite its appeal, Palm Bay never seems to get as busy as the better known neighbouring beaches.

This is probably the best dog friendly beach in the area so expect to have a few pooches for company.

The eastern end of Palm Bay is also known as Forness Bay and is the home to Margate’s water skiing club. The beach is also a popular launch spot for jet skis.

Pooch paradise

After trying a couple of other dog friendly bays (Kingsgate - no parking unless you pat the pub £10 and Dumpton Bay - no beach at high tide) we were ready for more disappointment but thought we’d try once more and came here and found a quiet stretch of lovely sand where our two dogs could romp about with no fear of disturbing other beach users (did see one poor lad have his sandcastle weed on by another dog - so relieved it wasn’t ours!)

Prons:
Dogs are allowed
Sandy
You can bath in the see on high tide

Cons:
No Lifeguard (contrary what description says THERE IS NO LIFEGUARD)
No public toilets
If you come when there is low tide the bottom is all rock so not friendly for walking or bathing in the sea
You can bath on high tide as the water covers part of sandy beach but you will swim in seaweeds.

We go there because of dogs being allowed but otherwise not so special.
