This pleasant patch of shingle beach sits within the shelter of Dover’s harbour. Despite being set within a major port the beach has surprisingly clean water (Marine Conservation Society recommended) and an attractive seafront behind.

Overlooking the beach is the imposing medieval Dover castle. Other notable views include the famous white cliffs plus you can watch the cross channel ferries come and go.

Being located in front of the town means there is no shortage of facilities including shops and cafes. Dover Harbour beach is also home to a water-sports centre where equipment is available to hire for use within a designated recreation area within the harbour.

The north-eastern end of the beach here is known as Swimmer’s beach and is well known as a training spot for channel swimmers.
