Ballymoney Beach
Ballymoney in County Wexford has two sandy beaches, and is one of the most popular locations in the county. The approach is attractive, tranquil, and quirky. There is plenty of sand, although much of the beach is quite rocky and visitors might want to make sure any walking activities include footwear. The beach is not very accessible or wheelchair friendly.
As well as some parking near the beach, there are spaces at the nearby Seafield hotel. The fifteen minute tree-lined walk down to the sands includes a babbling brook and charming children’s toadstool features. The walk is a little steep, and the beach can get very busy in summer. Parking can fill up early during high season.
The beach is known for its cleanliness, making it a good location for those who enjoy swimming. The public toilets are very clean and there is a shop and small coffee shop near the beach.
This is a dog friendly beach, and there are even occasional sightings of the friendly seal who lives locally.
There are two separate beaches at Ballymoney, one of which holds a Green Coast Award.
