Loughrea Lake Beach (Long Point)
This little stretch of beach and bathing area are located on the shores of Loughrea Lake. Being a lake with a seasonal lifeguard service it couldn’t be much safer for swimming here. There is a jetty to make taking the plunge even easier.
Lough Rea, a large limestone lake, which covers an area of about 260 hectares. Formed during the last ice age the lake is an important site for waterbirds with regular visitors from continental Europe.
As well as close parking the Long Point swimming area is well equipped with changing rooms, showers and a grassy picnic areas.
