  • Port Bán (or Dunree Bay) is situated among the dramatic terrain at the mouth of Lough Swilly. Nestled between the headland of Fort Dunree and the hulking form of the Urris hills to the north you will find a picturesque horseshoe-shaped cove. With golden sand, turquoise water and a backdrop of verdant green this picturesque beach is a true gem.

Despite only being around 10 kilometres from Buncrana, Port Bán feels a world away from anywhere. Despite its obvious charms you’ll rarely see more than a handful of people on the beach. In fact most visitors tend to make the trip to visit Fort Dunree with its museum and cafe.

Dunree Bay is easily one of the most Instagram-worthy / photogenic beaches in Donegal. Catch it on a calm sunny day and it is a stunner!
