Wells / Holkham Beach - Norfolk

Dune erosion at Wells

The storm surge caused significant erosion but this area was preconditioned towards erosion due to the number of visitors and their effect on sand dune vegetation. This gap in the dunes makes a natural route for walkers and footprints show it is basically impossible for any dune vegetation to grow here long enough to start a process of dune growth.
