Southerness Beach - Dumfries and Galloway

Beach at Southerness

This is not everyone's idea of an idyllic beach, but is far more interesting than a sweep of unbroken sand. The flat rocks are strata of Carboniferous sediments, and many of them are full of fossils. This was taken from near where the now-vanished trig point used to stand.
