Sharrow Beach - Cornwall

Whitsand Bay looking west from Sharrow Point

Dist:0.2km
There is a great sweep of sandy beach along Whitsand Bay from Captain Blake's Point near the Rame Peninsula in the Southeast to Portwrinkle to the Northwest. A few points of land jut into the sea along this stretch making passage along its full length only possible at low tide; Sharrow Point however juts out the most, and usually touches the sea even at low tide. This is the view in the Portwrinkle direction. The coast can be seen sweeping back round to the south in the distance. The headland seen roughly 1/3 the way from the left edge of the photo is a rounded headland near Polperro; even further south from this can just be glimpsed a much more distant headland, this I think is Dodman Point south of Mevagissey. As can be seen, this was taken on a beautiful sunny Autumn day - to see almost the same spot with the weather a little wilder, see [[[82841]]] For the view from Sharrow Point in the opposite direction see [[[2145318]]]
