Oil Drilling Rig - Laid up in Portkil / Meikleross Bay

A drilling rig come up the Clyde for repairs? Monstrous drilling rig anchored in the lower Clyde estuary. Some years later, on 4 August 1996, a similar type of vessel, while being towed down the river, clobbered the Erskine Bridge deck causing it to be closed for several days while repairs were carried out.
