Hest Bank Beach Photo

Hest Bank Beach - Lancashire

Hest Bank: level-crossing to the beach at site of station on West Coast Main Line, 1998

View westward, across the ex-LNWR WCML towards Morecambe Bay. Both modern motor and primeval modes of transport are evident. The station, closed 3/2/69, had been to the left, just a footbridge being left - over the high-speed railway, but not the busy A5105 road - for the safety of pedestrians. Note also the surviving signalbox - Which is still in use in 2013.(See also [[[3672956]]] and [[[3672973]]]).
