Canvey Island: Concord Beach sea paddling pool

The old 1920s Ordnance Survey large scale map shows that the original structure on this site was a "Glidaboating Pool". This was evidently short-lived as by the time that the 1939 edition was published it had become a "Paddling Pool". References to glidaboating on the internet are non-existent save for a site here http://weymouthinoldpostcards.co.uk/pageglidaboatslodmoor.htm which shows 2 postcards of a glidaboating pool in Weymouth, one with the wonderfully evocative caption "An exciting moment on the Lodmoor Glida-Boating Lake". Fun was fun in them days... The current pool gets recharged with a fresh intake of water at high tide, while the two beacons show the extents of the underwater hazard at the same time.
