Mill Strand Beach (Portrush) (West Strand)
Mill Strand is a golden, sandy beach looking west from the small seaside resort town of Portrush. The quaint old harbour is found at the northern end of the beach, which is backed by a long promenade for walkers and cyclists. Behind the promenade there is a large grassy area, a popular spot for a picnic with excellent views of the harbour and the rocky headlands of the Antrim coastline. The occasional porpoise may even be spotted out in the surf.
The beach has a fairly large car park along Eglinton Street, with toilets also found here. The sand can be accessed via a ramp. The town centre of Portrush, built along a peninsula, can be found just to the north east of the beach. Here, visitors will find many shops, cafes, pubs, restaurants, and places to stay. Portrush train station can be found right behind the beach, offering services to the nearby larger town of Coleraine.
