Ardmair Beach
Situated in the sheltered waters just to the north of the fishing port of Ullapool is Ardmair Beach. Consisting of a curving sweep of white, flat pebbles the beach is backed by a clutch of whitewashed cottages.
Besides the often glass-like, serene waters of the bay it is the backdrop that sets Ardmair apart. Mountains rise up in all directions and the route out to the Atlantic is dotted with islands.
This is a beach to just relax and take in the scenery, although there’s plenty of wildlife to see if you’re looking. The calm water is ideal for taking a dip, if a bit chilly, and there are also a few rock pools that are ideal for crabbing.
