Poppit Sands East is a mostly sandy beach, with areas of pebbles, to the north of the mouth of the River Teifi (Afon Teifi), looking across to Poppit Sands West beach on the other side, and along the rugged coastline of the surrounding area.

The beach is protected from erosion by a number of rock groynes and when the tide is out, numerous rockpools become exposed, which can be interesting to scour for signs of wildlife.

Poppit Sands beach is backed by Patch Caravan Park, with Patch Beach found on the opposite side, overlooking the river.

The area is popular for fishing, for water sports such as sailing, and for bird watching. Lucky visitors may even spot marine wildlife such as dolphins, porpoises, seals, and even whales if they look out onto the surf, particularly during the summer months.
