White Nothe Beach photo

Weymouth Bay from White Nothe

This is looking east along the coast towards Weymouth which is visible in the distance from the Smugglers Path which runs down the cliff side from near the coast guard cottages at White Nothe to the beach below. The path had been closed for over a year due to a landslip and when I walked it it was very overgrown. In this picture some of the zig zag path is marked by light coloured grass. There is a very steep drop on one side of the path and this is certainly the most difficult path I have walked in Dorset. The lowest section of the path runs through the overgrown undercliff and along the top of the cliff at the base of the undercliff for quite a distance before descending a wooden ladder onto the beach at the eastern end of Ringstead Bay. It is then quite a long walk along the beach to Ringstead.
