The Links Beach Photo
Alien alert
Around about 100 years ago, botanists had catalogued about 100 new plants along the Tweed. All grown from seeds that had been imported to woollen mills in fleeces from Australia, New Zealand and other sheep farming areas around the world. Nearly all the plants died out, but this one, the Pirri-pirri has found the sand dunes along the Northumberland coast to its liking and is now a pest. A sign on the dunes of Holy Island.
