New Groyne Front Beach Lyme Regis
This groyne which is made from granite capped with Portland Stone is part of the improvements to the beach. The sandy part of the beach on the right has been extended and this groyne and an extension to the harbour wall breakwater have been built to contain the new added sand. The other side of the groyne is gravel but the sand often overflows the groyne into the gravel during storms. In the background is the prominent headland of Golden Cap.
