The beach guide has 3 beaches listed in and around the town of Bootle. We have arranged these beaches in order of closest to the town first (distance in brackets).

  • Mariners Road. Crosby Beach (3.2 miles)

    Parking is available at the UFO-like Crosby Leisure Centre, from which a path leads over the dunes to the southerly end of Crosby Beach. From here, a short walk up towards the River Alt estuary brings the visitor to a series of iron-cast male figures each staring out to sea.

  • Crosby (Hall Road West) Beach (3.6 miles)

    This wide, sandy beach, backed by low dunes is popular with walkers, bird watchers and art lovers.

    Possibly the most striking feature here is the "Another Place" art installation by renowned artist Antony Gormley (best known for his Angel of the North).  100 life-sized cast iron figures, all staring out to sea were built…

  • Blundellsands Beach (3.6 miles)

    This wide open expanse of beach is located just north of Crosby, one of Mersyside's most affluent areas. Blundellsands beach is backed partly by a promenade and then dunes to the north.

    What Blundellsands is probably best known for though are the life-size cast iron sculptures of several men set just beyond the tide line.…
