The beach guide has 7 beaches listed in and around the town of Bude. We have arranged these beaches in order of closest to the town first (distance in brackets).

  • Summerleaze Beach (0.7 miles)

    Summerleaze is a wide sandy beach within easy walking distance of Bude town centre. Flanked by the river, backed by dunes and sheltered by an impressive breakwater, Summerleaze is popular with families and surfers. A seawater bathing pool offers safe swimming in all conditions. Beach huts are available to hire.

  • Crooklets Beach (0.9 miles)

    A small west-facing beach just north of Bude, within easy walking distance of the town centre. Crooklets joins up with neighbouring Summerleaze at low tide. More exposed and usually bigger than its neighbour, Crooklets is popular with surfers.

  • Northcott Beach (1.5 miles)

    A rocky, unspoilt beach with plenty of sand at low tide. Northcott is owned by the National Trust, who operate a small car park. No other facilities apart from a caravan selling tea and coffee in summer. Exposed, with rock pools and dangerous currents.

  • Sandymouth Beach (2.4 miles)

    A 1.5 mile long beach made up of rock and pebbles with a vast expanse of sand in front.

    The beach has rock-pools and is backed by high cliffs. It is reached by a moderately steep stony track from the car park.

  • Widemouth Bay (2.8 miles)

    Located a few miles south of the popular resort town of Bude, Widemouth Bay is wide open bay popular with both families and surfers. As a winner of the Blue Flag award there are all the facilities you would expect; toilets, cafe and a seasonal lifeguard service.

    This remote beach sits at the foot of a wooded valley around 4 miles north of bude.     Blackrock is the rockier, southern end of Widemouth bay, a long and sandy beach near Bude. Popular with both families and surfers, there is ample parking and hundreds of rock pools at low tide.
