  • Poppit Sands West is a popular, sandy beach, backed by hilly countryside, looking out over the mouth of the River Teifi. The beach is a good destination for bathing, and during the summer months there are lifeguards on duty from 10am until 6pm every day, and a marked out swimming zone.

It is not advisable to swim outside of this zone, particularly towards the river mouth to the east, as there can be strong currents. Other activities such as watersports and paragliding are also popular here.

The beach is backed by an extensive sand dune system offering a haven for wildlife. The western end of the beach offers good opportunities for exploring rockpools. Looking out onto the surf, particularly in the summer months, there is a chance of spotting dolphins, porpoises, seals, or even whales.

There is parking for 100 cars adjacent to the beach which is accessed along a boardwalk. A cafe, a beach shop, and public toilets can be found next to the car park. A pub and a hotel can be found nearby.

It is also the site of a lifeboat station, which is open to visitors on Wednesdays between the hours of 6pm and 8pm and Saturdays between 10am and 12am.

The beach marks the northern end of the 186-mile long Pembrokeshire Coast Path.

Wonderful. Miles of walking. Alway visit out of season so dogs can play on all of the beach. Even wet days inland turn into breezy sunshine here. Please don’t share as a best kept secret hideaway.
