This long, sand and shingle, urban beach stretches south from Port Brae in Kirkcaldy, on the north bank of the Firth of Forth. The Port Brae end of the beach has a dock with a number of piers.

An esplanade runs alongside the beach, next to the A921 and offers views towards Edinburgh. On the other side of the road to the beach are a leisure centre and plenty of shops including a supermarkets. There are a number of car parks to be found here.

The Fife Coast Path runs along the beach.

Kirkcaldy has three parks, a museum and art gallery and each year the town holds a Links Market- said to be the longest street fair in Europe.
