Llangrannog Beach - Ceredigion

Rock ecology and erosion

The rocks along the south-west facing curve of this bay showed many interesting variations of erosion. Here in microcosm is a rock world: the foreground shows the results of erosion - minute pools and mini-contour-lines while beyond the folds and crevices afford a little shelter for young mussels and limpets whereas the barnacles can hang onto more exposed surfaces.
